The history of windsurfing is inextricably linked to Lake Garda. Among the many innovations this area has witnessed over the years is the arrival of the Mistral board, first tested in Torbole in 1976, the rising popularity of the sport in the 1970s and 1980s and the birth of freestyle in the 1990s.
Circolo Surf Torbole has been part of this from the very beginning when it was founded in 1978 and over the years it has gained a reputation as one of the best windsurfing spots in the world, ideal for testing out new equipment and techniques. Since 2009, the clubhouse has been located on the waterfront next to the Colonia Pavese.
Circolo Surf Torbole’s most iconic regatta is the One Hour, first organized in 1989, but Torbole is a regular location for top international competitions, like the iQ Games and the PWA Tour.
Torbole will once again welcome top sailors of the iQFOiL class during the Youth Worlds.
